InterManager

To facilitate streamlined system administration in next-generation service provider environments (including hosted messaging), InterMail 4.0 now includes the InterManager tool, which provides critical account management features within a hierarchical access structure:

• Easy class-of-service administration for both business and consumer email accounts. Service providers can bundle features sets in any combination for strategic offerings.
• Ability to create and organize domain, organization, and user information into an object hierarchy, with appropriate access levels and security.
• Partitioned administration, which allows the service provider to delegate the management of email accounts and other services to specified users, such as corporate mail administrators.
• A web browser-based interface, which can be used by all levels of InterManager users to manage the objects under their control.

Management Features

Comprehensive management tools are provided for adding, deleting, and configuring accounts, broadcasting alerts, generating account listings, operational statistics and reports, and message content controls. InterMail's sophisticated administration features include:

Monitoring - all system activity and performance is centrally monitored through standard SNMP protocols, using a management database based on the Mail and Directory Management MIB (MADMAN). Detailed system alerts keep managers informed of any system problems.

Quota Management - administrators can set limits for number and size of messages on a per-mailbox basis, with configurable warning notifications issued as quotas are approached or exceeded.

Open architecture - InterMail seamlessly integrates with existing ISP accounting and provisioning systems through APIs.

Security - enhanced security features include address verification, domain validation, user authentication via SMTP, password encryption, secure socket layer transmission, and component operation without root privileges.
